It performs as advertised. Nice App, Nice Job.

It works great I have had no problems renaming files. I just wished I had this program years ago.
No regex support, no obvious way of doing wildcards either, only select actions you chain together in awkward UI. Please go check out TAG & RENAME for a good reference UI for batch renaming. Crashed less than 10 seconds after I first opened it for the first time! Consent repro. Click "add file", cancel without selecting anything, and click "add folder". Thats it. Minimal testing on a file munging app is BAD!!! Can’t even paste values into text fields, rename from x to y input field specifically, assume lots more places, but that’s where I gave up and declared my dollar lost on this one.
Good and flexible tool for renaming of files. A few little bugs that I work around. I do use the Advanced features and that is one reason I choose this app.
Confusing, awkward interface, and froze on first use.
Simple app that does just what it says, no more, no less.
What the bloody heck? Why cant you paste intor the fields? That’s coding 101 folks.
I have a huge collection of the Images, which I have sorted and grouped by size. I wanted to rename the images using CameraModel-DateTimeOriginal to make my filename unique and easy to organize, However for every manual test it gives OutOfBounds exception is not handled correctly…. and crashes consistently. Not worth trying for a kind of work i was expecting from the application.
This has good potential. It is clunky on file rename, but works fine. Folder rename is a different story - and not great. First, folder and file name choices are way off in the preferences. It should be a check box structure for ease: Check for Files; Check for Folders (check both or just 1). Second, it crashed on changing a folder name. It changed only the root level folder, and after I restarted, it would not change subfolder names. So, if you never need to change folder names, this is pretty good.
After adding folder and choosing a destination folder, there is no button to click or action to rename files.
Could not be better.
This is not easy to use out of the box and takes a bit of a programming mind to figure out. It works fine once you figure it out and the “test” feature is useful. It is not as easy is older ones I wish still worked like “File Wranger” and “File Renamer” that had easy ways to set your potential changes and it would show you a preview window in realtime to see if it was what you really wanted to rename. Regardless, it works, just takes time to fugure out.
I finally got it to do what I wnated to do. The product has potential, especially with the ability to chain actions. That said, it is pretty slow, when it actually starts the rename process. Not sure why, but for reference, there are other utilities that are way quicker than this utility when it comes to the actual renaming process.
I’ve been using this app for several months and it works great. Pretty easy and intuitive. Not sure what else you could ask for.
Gets the job done, thanks!
Not very worthwhile certanly not for a PAID app. No preview of photos so you must know the file name of the photo (ie you can not see the photo) be for you slect the file. Maybe there is a way, but I could not find it, to move parts of the name around within the current file name. Interface is well, terrible. SLOW on a lot of file. I hit the button several time not realizing the program was working on the process with not feedback it was working. Many Windows programs are better. Limitied ability to read metadata from photos. JPGs from a Canon camera.
Does exactly what I wanted it to do. Rename large groups of file extensions. Took a second to figure out that I had to choose a save location and click the rename button at the top to start the process, but I did so it’s all good now.
Regret I didn’t get the sooner—hours spent renaming files could have been minutes. Admittedly it took me a while to learn the procedure. It’s pretty simple and intuitive.
Completely defeats the purpose.
I bought QFR for a specific use case. I had a directory tree where I wanted to change the extension of a set of files but two bugs kept me from doing it. The first thing I tried to do was use the “Replace Text” action to change a group of files with a pattern of aaa.bbb.cc to aaa.dd but because part of the text I was looking for included the file’s extension it didn’t find any files to rename. I figured I could workaround the issue by changing the extension but because the directory tree included files that had the same names QFR claimed that that was an error and refused to make any changes. I made sure that the option to keep the files in their original directory was checked so there werent any real naming conflicts. I reported theses two issues so we’ll see how well the developers respond.
